With more than five decades of continual service to the Atlanta appliance marketplace, Guy T. Gunter and Associates is the owner of a unique and distinguished legacy. Exceptional service, an innovative spirit, family values, and a heritage locked in step with that of our founder—Guy Gunter—makes us truly one of a kind.
Born in 1918, Guy went from paper-boy extraordinaire (he had the largest route in Atlanta by age 12), to WWII Glider Pilot, to GE Traveling Sales Rep, to small business owner—all within the span of 34 short years. In 1952, his passionate dedication and unstoppable motivation moved the newly minted Guy T. Gunter, Jr. & Associates to close its very first year of business with more than a million dollars in sales. Guy is credited with introducing a number of prominent products to the southeastern marketplace, including Panasonic, Hitachi, Subzero, Thermador, Chambers and even everyone’s favorite mood-light, the Lava Lamp. His “flying salesman” methodology wowed wholesalers the South over as he raced in his private plane to shake hands and make deals across state lines. And his investment in a facility in up-and-coming midtown Atlanta in 1957 was a benchmark, even though the company said good-bye to its original space in 2006, growing into an even larger happy home.
There is a genuine sense of history here—something we are so proud to call our own. One that brings third-generation customers to our door, now, after the turn of the millennium. And one that we will continue to honor as we enter our next half-century of service.
